RE: OT - loft floor reinforcing
Scott,
Firstly, if you need to remove/cut any timber jousts call in the
professionals. In new houses they have something called finc (sp?) trusses.
These are a structural web of timber and shouldn't be messed with.
Now to your floor, using 18mm WBP (Water and Boil Proof) Ply will do the
job. There are a number of different grades, a builders merchant/timber
yard
will be able to advise on the correct on. Use the biggest sheets that you
can get upstairs. You can then install carpet, wood or whatever you require
on top of this. Put the ply down at right angles to the floorboards to help
create a stable structure.
