RE: OT: Shower Pumps

> it only kicks in when water flows through

Yup. Ours has gone mad once in 4 years and failed to turn off, but the next
time around it was fine.

>If hot and cold water supplies and temperatures are fine just now, on
the non powered shower, temperatures should still be ok on the pumped
shower - but obviously supplies of the hot water will be used up
quicker.

Yup - in theory, you just use the same 'ratio' of water quicker.

above the bathroom would I hear it?

Quite noisy. We've got ours in the airing cupboard mounted on a spongy
suspension plate, and attached into the plumbing via rubber pipes. It
might
be fine in the loft, but for us the airing cupboard was the best place from
a pipes point of view, and reasonably well insulated. Wouldn't be without
it though, and IMHO, much better than the wallmounted pumps/powershowers.
Ours is a Monsoon 1.5bar twin, if that helps. I can take a photo if you
want.

Can anyone who has retro-fitted a shower pump tell me if my current
thinking is correct please?

The pump is obviously wired to the mains but doesn't run all the time
(?) - it only kicks in when water flows through. Or do you need to
install a switch locally beside the shower to activate it?

If hot and cold water supplies and temperatures are fine just now, on
the non powered shower, temperatures should still be ok on the pumped
shower - but obviously supplies of the hot water will be used up
quicker. Correct?

Finally are these pumps noisy? If I had one installed in the loft
above the bathroom would I hear it?

TIA
