Re: Projector Convertor ?

Hi James
basically, the best way to improve the picture on a budget is to drive it
with a PC. This is a very common configuration, have a look at
www.avforums.com and you will see that many people are doing this.
Also, the trick is to use the highest quality connections from your source
at all points in the chain, as once you have lost picture information you
can never get it back!

The best connection on an AE100 is VGA, driven by a PC at the projector's
native resolution, called 1:1 pixel mapping. This means that the image
being
sent from the PC video card is exactly the same size as the fixed LCD panel
in the projector, and therefore the projector doesnt try to expand/shrink
the image to make it fit the screen. The ATI Radeon series cards are widely
recognised as the best for this.

Of course you then need to play your DVDs / watch tv. The DVD part is easy,
you need either DVD playback software, or a hardware DVD playback card. The
cheapest option is to use the DVD software bundled with your PC or DVD rom
drive, it wont match the best PC DVD playback solutions but it will be
miles
better than a standlone DVD player connected via SVideo.

Finally, connecting your freeview/sky to your projector. To do this then
you
need a video capture card. These capture the analogue video coming out of
the set top box, and then using a software package called Dscaler, enhance
the video prior to display. You can pay from £25 to around £800 for a video
capture card, depending on the quality and features you need.

Alternatively, you can buy a digital TV card to fit in the PC directly,
this
will also give good quality output.
good luck
