Gareth,
Thanks!
But .. eh?
How do I install it?
I have unzipped .. but there are only 4 files:
A .cnt a .cpl and the .inf and a help file.
No setup or installer file? How do install it manually?
Will it work with Windows XP?
Grrr how on earth did this happen in the first place?
Ho yin

Install, and you'll have an icon in Control Panel (this is an MS app).
You can then remove system icons from the desktop.

[ukha_d] [OT] Windows XP desktop icons Arrghhh!
.
Category:
Dear all,
Hope you all had a good Christmas and are looking forward to the New Year!
It seems that over the Christmas period some annoying icons have planted
themselves on the desktop! I have had them before and I know they are
advert
icons i.e.
Advertising webhosting, travel, poker, printer catridges, card games,
casino
online, bingo etc.
I do not know where they come from, and on previous occasions I have
managed
to delete them.
However this time I cannot delete them! Nor can I right click on them!
Nothing happens. However if I double click them I can launch them .
I have tried Adware 6, it cleaned up but did not touch the icons.
I looked through my control panel, add and remove programs but found
nothing
relevant.
Anyone got a solution? A part from formatting my machine and reinstalling
everything?
Thanks,
Ho yin
