Almost.
For tools and cables etc (inc PCs) used in a workplace (strictly, by
someone "at work") to comply with health and safety regulations
you
have to demonstrate that the equipment used is safe. The H&S law
doesnt define what that means, you can use any approach you wish, as
long as it isnt laughably a non-starter, and you just dont do nothing,
which also isn't an option.
The PAT testing industry read H&S regs as "everything with a plug
on
it has to be PAT tested regularly" and sold it to business. So yep,
just about every cable now has a barcode on it.....
