We were lucky with them last year, but several friends had a nightmare
with
everything from Amazon not turning up till the new year!

This year the few things I had to get from them I ordered back in October

I'd agree with that. My last 3 Amazon orders have all shipped (at least)
several
days after the expected delivery date. They put orders into
"dispatching
soon"
immediately, which means you can't alter or cancel them, and then their
fulfilment centre ships them out as and when it feels like it.

If you query when your order will be sent, they will just tell you that it
will
be "soon". The only upside is that if you ask them what
"soon" means to
them,
they are likely to refund your postage costs and possibly give you a gift
voucher if you keep on asking for specific information.

I won't be using them for time-critical stuff again, even if I allow what I
consider to be plenty of time!
