loose my internet connection but the vigor is still connected to my ISP. I
have to disconnect and then reconnect to the ISP to get it working again. I
would like to automate the resetting, or is there something within the
router to do it ? If not I can get homeseer to ping out to the internet and
if it fails a few times it can reset the router.

I used to do exactly that, I had my Asus router plugged into an AM12,
I used Nagios to poll a remote site every 5 minutes, 3 failures in a
row caused MrHouse to power cyle the AM12. All this was on Linux, but
the principle is the same watever OS you go for.
