RE: xPL - new devices?
Doesn't look too bad - Davis have published the protocol for talking to
their weather station, and we have quite a few systems already to interface
from a vendor's own protocol across onto xPL.
The best bet would be to join up to ukha_xpl-subscribe@xxxxxxx to
discuss it further - there are a couple of options, depending on whether
you
want to use something in parallel with your existing weather display
software, or as a replacement.

And something a bit more esoteric in the Home Automation circles (although
I
can think of loads of uses in a commercial environment) The Trend BMS
system. I can supply the protocol spec if needs be!
