Looking at the picture it appears that is might just be a
"commoning" block.

It makes no mention whatsoever of Ethernet simply saying "Make 1 RJ45
into
5" therefore I think it is just an adaptor that could be useful for
patching
a phone line to several rooms but I doubt it will be any good for Ethernet.
It cant be a switch or hub because it has no power and apart from new
PowerOverEthernet kit there is no power available on an ethernet circuit.

Then again I could be wrong.
