John you don't need screened cable for the PIR /Contact closures

In some cases , Digital temp sensors for instance, the added capacitance
of the cable is a disadvantage.

Also the sheer size and inflexibility of the cable will cause problems
with neat termination at the sensor end

Normal Alarm cable is ideal for the job

Where you do used screened cable - keypads with Audio - make sure you
only earth one end

Make sure you have a solid earth in both your Node 0's ( Node 1 & node
0
)

Terminate this in earth blocks then it is easy to earth your technical
kit

Mike

Okay, looking at the comments (and as expected) more Cat5 is needed.
Sounds
like another run of 4 to each bedroom (make 8 ports), another drop into
the
Kitchen (making 4 ports), another drop into the Utility for future
garage
expansion. The link between the two Node0's needs to be investigated
some
more. As for some of the other ideas, I'm using C-Bus for the entire
house,
so there will be quite a bit of non-grey Cat5 going in. The alarm will
be
using 8-core screened cable, so no worries there but still loads of it
to go
as I have every door and window wired along with various PIR sensors.

Thanks for the views.
