Version 0.1.2 of the CANAL package is now available for download at
http:///www.vscp.org
The CANAL (CAN Abstraction Layer) and the VSCP (Very Simple Control
Protocol) are two open source packages constructed for SOHO automation
tasks. The package contains an expanding suite of tools for the
developer as well as for users.
At the core of the package is a well specified event driven protocol
model that can be run on CAN, RS-232, RF and ethernet.
Changes in this release:
The new CANAL (CAN Abstraction layer) daemon/service has been combined
with the Very Simple Control Protocol daemon and they are now included
in the same program. The daemon is available as a win32 service and as a
stand alone program for the windows platform and as a standard daemon
fron the linux platform.
A shared memory interface has replaced the pipe interface of the
previous version resulting in much faster message handling due to less
overhead.
The following drivers are included in the distribution:

General text file logging.

Drivers for Lawicel CAN232.

Driver for CCS PCI CAN Card.
*
Driver for Apox Controls USB CAN Adapter.
*
Driver for IXXAT VCI2
*
Driver for the PEAK series of CAN adapters.
*
Driver for the Vector series of CAN adapters.
*
Driver for Zanthic Technologies USB CAN adapater.
A total 30 adaptors are supported at the moment.
The following applications are included in the distribution:

The daemon.
*
cw CanalWorks which is a general graphical CAN/VSCP analysis tool.
*
cancmd which is a general command line tool for CAN/VSCP.
*
Canaldll/canaldll.libInterface to daemon client interface.
*
Canalocx an ActiveX control for Visual Basic/ASP etc that can
interface to the daemon or a driver.
*
Loggerwnd a simple graphical application for logging.
*
Testifdll a simple test application for testing of the canaldll
*
Testif a simple program to test the interface.
