SMT devices are soldered using Reflow Soldering techniques

A solder paste is applied to the PCB using a thin mask (solder mask) and a
squeegee
The Componets are then placed and or glued into position and the whole lot
heated until the solder melts

Job done ;-)

Or not, as the case may be as there are 101 things that can, and do, go
wrong :-S
