That might have been me, though I used an MK switch rather than a
Clipsal.  I used some rubbing compound from Halfords, basically just a
very fine abrasive paste, applied with a cotton bud.

Not sure about the lettering on the Clipsal switches, but on the MK
parts it is only on the surface, not that 'etched-in' kind of lettering
you sometimes see on plastic items.
