Paul (Gordon)

Just been searching for peoples experiences with assorted CCTV cameras and
found your post below from June. How did you find the Day/Night camera from
Henrys ? I really like the idea of having colour in the day but I'm
struggling to justify the price compared to a 0.01 lux B&W only....

Well, as it happens, I decided to go one better anyway, and I've just got
back from Henry's on Edgware Road armed with 2 shiny new day/night
cameras..
:-)

These have 1m of captive lead, that splits into two thinner cables
terminating in a BNC for the video and a mini-jack socket for power.

I'm going to cut the video end off where they split (then I son't have to
bother identifying which cores are power or video inside the cable... power
I'll leave alone, and power the camera locally via a wall-wart.

I'll either solder the bare cable to some cores in the CAT5, at each end...
- or I suppose I could try to crimp on an RJ45 plug in place of the BNC,
then I could run it "properly" over the structured cabling... -
Anyone
reckon doing it that way would introduce any problems?

Paul G.
