as far as RAID goes I have been waiting to try out this:

it only works with RAID 0 and 5 but its better than nothing...

regarding remote backups I use:

http://www.handybackup.com/ftp-backup.shtml
its on $30 for the basic
version and you can get plugins for Outlook the registry and ICQ.

It works quite well I must say...
