RE: C-Bus reaction time

Doesn't seem too difficult - 2 PIR's, one at each end of the stairs, enough
dimmer or relay channels for the number of stages required, and simple use
of either scene chasing or scene delays depending on what is supported in
the C-Bus software.

If using scene chasing then you need to set up up the scenes individually
then when the PIR triggers it starts the sequence in turn using the
required
fade rates to set the time intervals. Scene delay allows a single scene but
uses a channel delay in greater increments for each lighting channel to
create the same effect ie first channel on instantly, next channel 1/2
second delay before on, next channel 1 second delay etc.

Once the "going up" and "going down" scenes have been
stored you can then
link them to the trigger inputs from the PIR. Placing the PIR to restrict
sensing area so it only triggers when the stairs are going to be used is
probably more difficult.

Sorry I cannot tell you exactly how to program as I don't use C-Bus but
I've
done something similar on many projects with the 2 lighting systems I do
use, and it generally impresses those that have not seen lighting controls
in use before.

Good.

We very briefly touched on it the C-Bus course. It involved using C-Bus
timers, however I suspect that it's going to take quite a few frustrating
hours trying to remember exactly what was done.
