RE: Project vaults

The plan is to install a sofa at the viewing end and a couple of low tables
+ lamps ( LD11 obviously ) so that should also help with the sound. Carpet
up the walls may be quiet cool - I wanted to avoid a traditional skirting
board. It will give it a nice 'padded cell' feel. Just a thought - if I
went with carpet walls could I still mount my 13 amp sockets at the normal
height ie in the carpet ?

Ideally a cinema, because it relies on amplified sound and not
architectural
acoustics should be pretty dead. If you find that it sounds a bit hard or
echoey in their i would recommend running some carpet up the walls. Looking
at the size of the room , if you are goig to have any problems in will be
in
the upper mid-range and higher frequencies. I would seriously suggest soft
furnishing the wall opposite the viewing end as this will be the most
critical, maybe something like a curtain across the back.

I guess if worst case - you could always treat the walls with some
acoustic foam/pads although I guess you don't have much room?

Not sure so far. Still in that really echoy stage with lots of bare
floors
and walls. Plan is to install a nice think carpet and a few book shelfs
and
cupboards on the flat walls so that should absorb some sound. Not sure
how
the surround speakers are going to sound yet. Just ordered 4 x LD11 for
the
lighting :-).

How do you find the acoustics in there already?
