In an attempt to reduce noise and clutter in side my main machine I am
evaluating a couple of USB2 drive caddies. They are Aluminium so should
have good heat dissipation and are pretty cheap (£25 ish each) and with
80Gb
drives available for <£45incl Vat I thought it worth a punt.

It all works fine except I am a little disappointed with the transfer rate
-
7Mb/s - the drive is a Maxtor 6Y80L0 and I was expecting more. I get much
higher speeds from my similar Firewire setup using an ancient IBM laptop
HDD - Any ideas how I can tweak teh bandwidth allocation?

TIA

Tim.
