Gents and Ladies

Does anyone know how to make a torrent so that people can download it?
Ideally I would like to have the file on my PC with a link to the file
(tracker I think) on my website.  Is this how it works?

I suppose what I am asking is "does anyone know of a 'making torrents
for dummies' guide?"
