RE: Music Server Software
Another simple option is to use iTunes - the windows client. It will act
as
both a server and a client. Hence run it as a server on your 'central' PC
and use iTunes as a client on the PC's you wish to listen to.
If the 'central' PC is linux then there is a DAAP server, open source that
iTunes clients will be able to see. I have used it briefly and it seemed
to
be fine (had 3 clients connected at once).
The advantage of this system (if I have got my facts right) is that you
should also be able to see music on other machines when they have iTunes
running since actually iTunes doesn't really have a client or server mode -
it does both at the same time.
