Music Server Software

OK finally trying to sort out my music server but I'm really getting
confused over what the different bits of music/juke box software can
actually do for me so I need help!

I'm currently running a PC centrally with all my CD's ripped as MP3, my
daughter has her own PC which she would like to be able to listen to
music on, I have my PC and I also have a Kiosk PC. I'm trying out xlobby
on the kiosk at the moment but I'm not sure how this will work in server
mode as ideally I would like to run software on the central pc which
would then maintain a central database of my music. I would want to
access this then from any other pc to play the music, I would see a
central database better as I wouldn't have to keep building the database
on different machines when I add more music, I would also want the
different machines to be able to play different music at the same time.
Like I said earlier I'm trying xlobby at the moment but I'm not sure
this will do what I want, as I think the client only controls what is on
the server, I may be mistaken!

Other software I'm aware of are the jriver media jukebox, jriver media
centre and Cinemar's musiclobby. What I'm not clear on is whether any of
this software will achieve what I want, or if there is any other
software I could use? Also looking to the future I guess I would
probably want to be able to do the same for DVD's, so I should bear this
in mind. I know these bits of software have been mentioned here in the
past but it's only now I'm really doing this and like I said earlier I'm
finding it all a bit confusing, any help as ever will be greatly
appreciated.
