How about a plug-in wall wart power supply plugged into the mains before
the
ups. You may then be able to connect its low-voltage output to your
monitoring setup, possibly via a relay. In fact, a mains-rated relay such
as RS 394-9116 (see http://rswww.com )
connected across the input supply of
the UPS would allow you to track the presence/absence of the supply.

Hi folks,
Anyone seen a non-intrusive voltage detector around? Thinking about
something similar to those "pens", but with a usable output
which can be
hooked upto a sensor board (eg the barionet).
My problem is that I take my mains incomer into my switchover panel for a
generator, then onto my UPS kit. If the power fails, the UPS tells me it
sees the loss between power going and generator starting, but after the
generator is engaged, I don't know if mains is present or not. The switch
over panel has no usable outputs for me, so was looking for a non-intrusive
sensor (sitting on the UPS power of course!) to watch for mains.
