RE: OT - Browser troubles
What results do you get from the nslookup command?
In windows go to Start / Run and type command.
Then type nslookup XXX where xxx is the URL of the site you want, ie
www.bbc.co.uk.
This will confirm the DNS you are using and what IP address is resolved
by that DNS for the URL. If there is a problem with the IP then the DNS
has a problem. If an IP is returned try accessing it using the IP rather
than the URL.

I have - one of the first things I checked. I don't have an alternate
DNS
specified but then I haven't done that on any of the PCs on my home
network..

Sounds like a DNS problem ..
Have you set up the preferred DNS server and alternate DNS server ip
addresses in your TCP/IP settings?
