RE: EIB Instabus

Hi,

The instabus system is proving quite difficult to get a hold of. I'm
looking to install it in my new build, in the coming months,
and Siemens will only supply to registered installers, so I'm having to
organise the training and registered installer exam before
they will supply the kit. Otherwise they just put you in touch with an RI
in your area who may/will charge the earth for supply and installation.

CBus is a similar system but there's nothing to stop you DoingIY.

It will be more expensive once I've paid for the training but Instabus uses
an open standard(EIB European installation bus) that any manufacturer can
implement. This can mean the difference
between household appliances coming EIB enabled or CBus enabled. Saying
that, no-one knows which way the manufacturers will go so it's all a bit of
a gamble.

Hi all

A quick question

why is there so little talk about EIB or Instabus systems here

are the not practical for home use ?
or are they that much more expensive that C-bus and X10 system ?
