Here is a link to my page when I built such a thing for a friend. Your
application is slightly different and the circuit would need modifying to
switch an input but that is relatively simple to do and it would remove
the micro controller. It is not the sensor mentioned on the list a while
back (I didn't see that post anyway).

A few weeks ago, I think it was Andrew Kilgore, mentioned using an LED
sensor plugged into HomeVision so it could detect an LED (linked o some
telephone hardware) lighting up.
How do they work? Do they work OK? And are there any cheap UK sources for
them?
