Re: OT: Very OT - Price of 10mb leased line?

I guess ('cos you still haven't said!) you are looking for decent
10mbit internet. And you want SLA.

First stop is to check Easynet, as they may (if you are really
lucky) have SDSL in your area, and that will be probably an order of
magnitude cheaper than anything else.

BT will deliver you 10mbit ethernet with SLA, are you sitting down:

http://www.serviceview.bt.com/list/current/docs/BTnet_Services.boo/21
171.htm - and thats just part of the costs, you also need the fibre
plant thing.

In the middle of nowhere, everyone else will most likely not have
their own last mile infrastructure, so they will have to use BT for
the tail end circuit, probably a LES-10 to their nearest
switchcentre, if within 20kms as the fibre goes, outside that its
even bigger BT bills, for a proper leased line onto their network.

Cant you put your stuff in a colo centre, where all this gets lots
cheaper...?

Another alternative is to go broker, http://www.band-x.com and get
some bids, though off the beaten track you will get less bids than
for something in City of London :-)
