Depends on your house I'm afraid, I have the home DECT station at the
front of my house and get a full signal at the back of my garden and
everywhere inside the house. I've experienced no interference with my
802.11b netork as yet.

It is, I can only think of using a PBX to communicate over phone lines
internally unless DesGs suggestion helps.

Depending on building construction as always ... in the open, upto
around 150m.

If you're going to try DECT, buy from someone such as

who offer refurbished kit,
but allows you to return if it's no use to you. Or borrow a DECT phone
