C-bus could certainly provide what you're looking for. The important
thing to remember with C-bus IR is that it does not pass through a
signal (As with say Xantech kit.) but receives an IR code and transmits
a stored IR code.
The c-touch units are able to receive codes from a number of standard
remotes which in turn trigger a c-bus event. That event could be
anything from dim, relay on-off or indeed transmit a stored IR signal.
C-bus cannot really handle video switching BUT you could use a Kramer
4x4 unit with IR control to achieve this.

Mail me off-list if you need more.

Many thanks

Subject: [ukha_d] Help: Any Crestron / AMX type systems people out there
(urgent-ish)

Hi all,

I've been landed a last minute AV system job that's a little out of my
field
and wondered if there was anyone here who might be able to help.

The job ;

- Customer wants "one of those fancy wireless control thingies"
for
their
boardroom.

- There is an existing projector VGA (via DVI), composite & svideo and
IR
control.

- They need to switch between VGA (laptop) and 4 composite video
sources.

- 5 x Switched power (4 appliance, 1 light)

- 2 x dimmed power (2 light)

- Manual buttons on the wall for the lights

Timescales ; quote asap, installation if accepted within two weeks.

As far as I see it the two levels of doing this are ;

1) An IR pronto and AV amp. Not sure on power control yet, I don't feel
X10
is robust enough for use in a boardroom with who knows how much noise
floating round the mains. Does C-Bus have an IR input ?

2) Crestron or AMX type system. I have worked with these before,
although
not installed, and know they can do the job. Although not sure where to
start with commissioning one and very jumpy about the timescales.

Can anyone out there help ?

Many thanks if you've read this far:-)

Mark.
