**xAP / xPL - Idiots and "Real World" uses**

Time for me to comment on recent x** happenings.

I am greatly encouraged with recent developments in the x** camps. While
my
ultimate hope of a merger has not been realised (this time) the new
co-operative spirit is to be greatly welcomed. Peoples uncertainty over
the
two standards were undoubtedly holding things back.

There has been a huge amount of work in recent days and what the developers
really need now are some USERS! In order to develop for the most hardware
I
have been asked to create some polls to find out how many HomeVision /
CM12U
users etc are out there. You may have answered this before but PLEASE vote
again when the polls are up.

"Idiots Guides" are currently being put together so people like
me will have
simple, clear instructions on how to get x** working on their HA systems.
With this in mind I'd like to ask the guys to create two Idiots Guides on
their websites to do the following tasks...

1. X10 Icon
Create an icon on the PC desktop that, when clicked, will trigger an X10
event using a CM12U (and or HomeVision) that resides on that local machine
or another machine on the LAN.

2. Meteor CID Sharing
Create a system which monitors Caller ID info from the Meteor and passes it
to as many of the following as possible - PC Client, HomeVision, TiVo,
SliMP3 (+any other device widely used by our community).

As people outside of the development teams start to see actual "real
world"
uses for this stuff then the user base will grow.

Many thanks
