The xPL Team are pleased to announce that (after what has been a herculean
effort by Tony Tofts and John Bent) we have available for immediate
download
the following updated components, adding extensive support for the xAP
Protocol to the xPLHal Platform:

1) The xPLHal Engine: http://www.xplhal.com/xplhal_download.htm
2) xPLHal Manager: http://www.xpl.myby.co.uk/info/xplhalmgr/

xPLHal is a low level scripting engine, allowing home automators to
construct powerful macros to be executed when specific conditions are met,
such as the arrival of an xPL or xAP message, the time of day and so on.

xPLHal Manager is a powerful management and configuration client, allowing
xPL enabled applications installed within the network to be configured and
remotely managed easily. This has now been extended to allow control over
the xAP Scripting extensions within xPLHal.

At this point, it is possible for any automator with some knowledge of
VBScript to construct a solution for the home network using both xPL and
xAP
components. A similar level of knowledge is required as that needed to
construct simple Homeseer scripts, or to program Homevision: it's not
rocket
science!

We suggest that anyone interested in using xPL or connecting xPL and xAP
through xPLHal joins the xPL Yahoo Group: ukha_xpl-subscribe@xxxxxxx
This is the preferred forum for support, as we have no desire to flood
UKHA_d with support questions.

Tony will be posting a more detailed description of the facilities
available
for using xAP within the xPLHal environment.

And again, a Call for testers: those looking to help us in testing this
system are very welcome.

Ian
(on behalf of the xPL team)
