Great Ian...
Do you want to talk to Dan and Mario and between you get support for xPL
added? Would be another nice app for xPL :-)
The reason I asked for ACE / HV support is that I'm running both of them
very successfully and they do 99% of what I want them to do. As you
mentioned recently in a post about xPL, it's not quite there yet with
application support - when it is, I'd certainly be keen to try it out
further - please correct me if I'm wrong though ;)
Cheers,
Paul.

AAAARGH! This is 110% the operating environment of xPL/xAP.
Rather than having ML support Ace and NV explicitly, adding xPL support
(I'll talk about what I know, Mark H can talk about the xAP side of things)
to these components would allow them to interact with each other, but also
open them up to Caller Line ID apps, HomeAutomator, and just about anything
else you want.

indirectly to HomeVision by sending commands to Girder and then on to HV by
using the HVDesktop app and sending a command line command (X10 etc).
Worked
well but would be even better to have MLServer directly support HV or ACE.
Girder is very powerful, but it hasn't really moved beyond the hardcore
developer environment: plugins can only be written in VC++, and despite
repeated attemtps to get COM supported in the Engine (so that VB plugins -
within the skillset of many more developers, can be written easily) it's
still brutally difficult to get it to interact with any other system except
by command line "injector" utilities.

We have the first building blocks of an IR system within xPL, that will
allow multiple equipment from differnet vendors to be used as Zone RX and
TX. Still a fair ways off though, so Girder continues to be a useful
platform in the meantime

Ultimately, this is the entire reason that xAP and xPL were developed.
I can appreciate that things have been quiet for some time as the core
elements have been gradually being built in the background, but at this
point, right here, right now, all it would take is the ability to fire off
xPL messages when a ML button is pressed, and you are 90% of the way there.
Ian.
