You'll need an "air band" radio. They're normally branded as
such.
Range is 108Mhz -> 180Mhz IIRC
Analogue ones are cheaper, but a digital tuner makes the following so much
easier ;
Heathrow radio is (From 08 Aug 02 AIP, times are for winter) ;
APP - Heathrow Director
119.725 (default), 120.400, 127.525, 134.975, 121.500 (Emergency)
TWR - Heathrow Tower
118.500 (24 Hr), 118.700 (7am -> 10pm or as directed)
124.475 (when instructed), 121.500 (Emergency)
TWR - Heathrow Delivery
121.975 (6:30am to 10pm or as directed)
TWR - Heathrow Ground
121.900, 121.700
RAD - Heathrow Radar
119.900 (7am to 8:30pm), 125.625 (when instructed), 121.500 (Emergency)
Arrival ATIS - Heathrow Information
123.900, 113.750 (Broadcast from bovingdon VOR), 115.100 (Broadcast from
Biggin VOR)
Departure ATIS - Heathrow Information
121.850
FIRE - Heathrow Fire
121.600
