London, England - 2 October 2003 - Hauppauge Digital, the world leader in
TV-on-a-PC technology, has introduced a tiny satellite TV decoder for the
UK
market. The Hauppauge DEC 3000-s is the smallest product available and
ideal
for second TVs in the kitchen and bedroom. In addition, the DEC 3000-s has
a
USB socket and comes with the software to convert any PC into a TV and
digital video recorder.

Priced at £129.99 inc including VAT, the Hauppauge DEC 3000-s will be
available from October, and does not require a subscription to receive
digital satellite broadcasts of over 100 channels, including all the BBC
channels. More free channels will be available in the coming months as
channels break free from Sky Digital's encrypted service.

In addition, the DEC 3000-s has a Smart Card slot on the front, allowing
European channels to be received with the appropriate Smart Card and
subscription.

"The UK market for digital broadcasts continues to evolve, with the
BBC
breaking away from Sky Digital to offer its channels for free over
satellite. This market will continue to develop and Hauppauge are at the
forefront of providing low-cost "open" receivers that do not
require
subscription," said Yehia Oweiss, Managing Director of Hauppauge
Digital.
"With our TV and PC Freeview range we now have the widest choice of
digital
receivers for the UK market."
Use it on a TV!
The DEC 3000-s plugs into a Sky Digital dish using the existing cable. Dish
owners may wish to purchase a simple splitter device to share the dish
signal around the house. The supplied SCART cable plugs into the TV or a
standard RF lead can be used for older TVs without a SCART input.. The unit
comes with its own remote control and auto-tunes to the available channels.

Use it on a PC!
Unlike any other satellite receiver on the market, the Hauppauge DEC 3000-s
can also turn any PC into a TV. The supplied software and USB cable allows
owners to watch TV in a window or on the full screen. A click of the mouse
changes channels.

Harnessing the facility of the PC, the software can also record programmes
to disk. A mouse click on the "Record" button starts and stops
recording. A
scheduler EPG allows for simple setup of unattended recordings. Once on
disk, owners can "burn" the programme to DVD-RW or as a VCD onto
CD-RW.

Hauppauge Digital has been established for over ten years, and is the world
leader in desktop TV and video products, with a range covering PC and Mac,
analogue and digital, satellite television broadcast, teletext, FM stereo
radio, Dolby surround and video capture. Prices range from £44.99 to
£233.83
inc VAT. Hauppauge's products are available from many leading online and
high street retailers, including John Lewis, Currys, Dixons and PC World,
Dabs, Game, Jungle, Maplin, Micro Direct, Scan and Watford.
