Indeed,
Although I've had mine for 6 months now and never had a problem with either
heat or "delayed write"
I'm pretty sure mine has a fan in, perhaps they have been revised?

The actual *DRIVES* in the Maxtor external units are superb ... it's just
that the design of the external cases leaves a lot to be desired.
