Could do - but I want a quick and simple solution where I don't have to
mess around with splitting files manually... ?

Paul.

Use WinRAR to compress and split the files into chunks that will go onto
each disc.

Can anyone recommend a really good backup program that can backup files to
DVD-R and split really big files between disks. Really, all I need is a
straight copy for all smaller files and a split facility for the big ones.
I
want the backups to be readable by ANY PC, so not in a proprietary format.

I did try the new Nero BackItUp prog but it's complete PANTS! If you loose
the backup set file (log of all files backed up), I can't see any way of
re-creating or restoring the large files split between disks - also some
bugs :-(

Any thoughts?

Paul.
