Up until yesterday I thought that the new power connector on SATA drives
was a really bad idea.
I then built a machine using a case with SATA drive carriers, the beauty of
connector becomes
clear when you see that both the data and power connections exist in a
simple low friction
hot swappable connector. Connections from the carrier back plane to the PC
are now
simple 1 power connector per 3 drives in this case an 3 SATA cable, a god
send compared to
PATA cables.
