Hi Marcus,

Check out the GM29 from Sony/Ericsson as this is a GSM modem with an RS232
port that works with AT commands. Dead simple to programme and setup. I am
using one with an Atmel microcontroller at present.

You can get pricing and purchase from 2001 Electronic Components
(www.2k1.co.uk) for around =A3129 which is SIM free and for SMS use, you
co=
uld
simply use a pay as you go SIM for this.

It also does GPRS too and voice if you where to need this. You can plug in
=
a
handset, probably would work with one from a home phone or a headset and
make voice calls if need be.

My last job, we used the GM29 in it's board only format and it works great.

You would need to write or have the software written for it, but this is
dead easy too.

Regards
Dave...
