Just got this sent to me. Anyone used this type of extender before?
Perhaps it's old news, but if anyone has any experiences of them, I'd be
glad to hear them
TIA

Quoting from the manufacturer -
"With the new Black Box Enhanced Video KVM extenders you can extend
keyboard, video and mouse over virtually any Cat5/5e/6 cable and still
have crisp, clear video even at resolutions as high as 1600 X 1280!
Many companies now choose to standardise on Cat5e or Cat6 cable for
their cabling infrastructure because of the higher data rates supported.
These cable types, while offering performance benefits for data
transmission, are not ideal for the extension of KVM signals. The
Disparate pair lengths often found in Cat5e and higher cables can result
in colour separation in the extended image and therefore a poor quality
picture. The new Black Box Enhanced Video KVM extenders have built in
skew compensation and independent low frequency and high frequency video
equalization ensuring excellent video quality even on Cat5e and higher.
These products are Ideal for extending the KVM signals from a server or
ServSwitch in the server room to allow administrators access from the
comfort of their desks. They can also offer real benefits when used
more extensively, for example to extend KVM stations to a whole room of
users to allow desktop PCs to be stored in a secure and climate
controlled location while freeing up desk space. With a massive product
range that includes extenders with serial and audio support, extender
for SUNs, dual video extenders, dual access, rack mount local and remote
units and KVM over fibre extenders, whatever your requirement, Black Box
will have the product to suit your application.
