If you want to buy a terrabyte NAS device you'll be paying a fortune ...
better to "roll your own" - I have an old Duron 700 mobo with
256Mb RAM and
Windows XP, a HighPoint RocketRaid404 card and 8 x 160Gb IDE drives
configured as a single 1.2Tb array. Works great.

Of course with 300Gb drives being available now you can get 2Tb in a single
box.

When I need to expand storage further I'll just use external firewire /
USB2.0 drives...
