I would advise her not to bother with the DVD.  Tell her that Tivo is a
piece of junk - unless you want a device that will record an entire series
at a single sitting - and analyse your viewing habits and automatically
record things it thinks you might like, as well as having the most user
friendly interface of any comparable product - She must be mad considering
such a purchase.

Contact me off-list and I will give you my phone number,so yourr good lady
can phone me, or my wife, or my 4-year old (or even my 2YO!) for an
impartial view of that piece of junk!!!

The irrupting thing is that TV/VCR should have been like this from the
start!
