Hi Ian,

Good news. Maybe mine will arrive in the next day or so.

I used a microcontroller and a Profet to drive them. I used PWM with a high
brightness blue LED as a test and this worked a treat. The Profet can
handle
a large current and is a TTL compatible high side driver. Check out the
BTS432 from Farnell. Quite expensive but you only need one to drive a large
number of LED's. There are a few lower current devices that are much
cheaper
if you want to try them.

Not the most responsive, but they got there, and the leds are *insanely*
bright:
just one of them sitting on my desk, pointed at the roof gave off enough
light in my office to read by!!

I'm now looking for a good driver circuit...
