There us Microsofts SUS (Software Update Service).

You set up an update server at your location, which downloads all of the
updates, and then your local machines get all of their updates from that
location.

You can control the clients (using a policy) to automatically install the
updates, to automatically reboot or not as you so desire.

SUS can be downloaded from

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=A7AA96E4-6E41-4F54-972C-AE66A4E4BF6C&displaylang=en

I use it here at work on a WAN network of 150'ish machines over 3 sites,
and also remote users over VPN. So far no problems at all with the system.

Subject: [ukha_d] OT: Windows Update

Is there a simple way to run the Windows Update service across multiple
machines on a network. Is their a "network administrators"
version of
Windows Update which allows the download of an EXE for silent distro,
perhaps using the login scripts?

Many thanks

Rob
