I did try it with the aerial outside, with clear line of site, but still no
joy.  They're now sending me a new aerial, and have conceded that the
'lunar
eclipse' excuse might have been a bit lame!

TomTom showed 8 satalites locked with good signal strength this morning on
my Garmin GPS II, but I do have an external antenna.

Hmmm.  I just check with someone with a Garmin somethingorother that
shows
the number of locks and strength, and it is a lot lower than normal,
but it
was still working, unlike my gizmo.  Back to tech support.....

my TomTom has been working fine although it does use a magnetic
external antenna.
