Well, I've been loitering on the mailing list for quite a while now, so
it's
about time I introduced myself.

I live in Cheltenham, and work in IT. Linux servers mainly, but have done
quite a bit on NT in the past. Most of my mates (and esp. SWMBO) think I'm
a gadget freak with too many toys, but they haven't heard about you lot!

It all started with a Pronto and has grown to include the IR to X10
interface, a number of lamp modules, appliance modules, light
switches and RF switches together with a PowerMax house alarm. I automate
it all through a Linux PC running heyu and xtend. I'm quite chuffed that
when I come home in the dark the house has already turned the lights on and
that I can get all the home cinema stuff to play a dvd and set the (v
basic) lighting scene with the touch of a button. I'm pretty much confining
myself to the cheap end of the market but every so often I tot it all up
and have to redifine my definition of cheap!

You lot have been a great help so far, and quite a laugh as well, so keep
it up! And good luck with the Automated Bath (tm)...

By the way I'd kill for an opportunity to get SWMBO to 'accidentally' see a
demo of Tivo, because I know she wants it - nay NEEDS it, she just doesn't
realise it yet. ;-) Any cunning ideas?

Cheers

Ady
