Something that's been puzzling me for a little while . . .
Previous threads have noted that Cat5 cable is a pretty good lightning rod
and may "attract" lightning strikes.
What's special about Cat5, or is it a universal problem with external
cabling. E.g. Would running speaker cable around the garden present similar
hazards ? What about power cables & coax ?
Line arrestors are available for not much money (versus replacing lots of
kit) - can I get one for my speaker cables ? Do I need one ?
Just trying to understand whether it's something specific about Cat5, or
just a general problem.
Any thoughts ?
