Interfacing ADT alarm
I was thinking last night about to how to further improve my HomeSeer
set up. I have many events that happen or don't happen depending on
whether we're in, we're out, asleep, on holiday, etc. At the moment
HomeSeer knows this just from a virtual device that is set manually
(assuming we remember!). This 'status' is set by pressing a button
(on a Stick-a-Switch). But as we head upstairs to bed or out the
front door we usually press another button. The one to set our ADT
alarm.
I seem to recall the last time I saw the alarm controller box open
there was a serial port inside. I was wondering therefore
(warranties aside!) if there was anyway of interfacing the ADT alarm
box with the HomeSeer PC so that when we set the alarm
HomeSeer 'knows' and the flag is set for me saving another button to
press?
Any thoughts on the viability of this idea? :-)
I think I once saw in here that one of our members worked for
ADT?? :-)
