RE: mobile phones
I'll keep my eye on the battery life then :-) certainly at the minute its
doing better than the 7650...
GPRS settings arent published for orange either :-) but they work... With a
few tweaks here and there... I'll contact you offlist about that...
I don't think Sony actually has a competitor to the 6600 at the minute... I
think its somewhere between the P900 and the T610...
Hmm don't know about the headset thing, is there anything in the manual or
the profiles about it?

Hmmm....
I'm not so convinced with the battery life. I agree that it take a while
to
loose a bar, but after that, they seem to drop off very quickly (that's
without Bluetooth, though I've got it switched on now). I'm hoping that
once a few more charging cycles are complete it'll become more reliable.
GPRS settings are still not published for Vodafone. Current timescales are
apparently 21 November now. Boo!
But, as per below, I had a chance to play with the T610 yesterday, and it's
not in the same league. The fact that the T610 is free on a lot of
contracts says a lot about where S/E are pitching the phone. P900 vs 6600
might be a more interesting debate, but even then, the 6600 does not try to
be a full-blown organiser.
The one thing that's is v v v v v v annoying is that I use a Bluetooth
headset (Hs-3w), but when paired with it, the phone doesn't ring, you just
get it through the headset, which is fine if you want to have the earpiece
permanently implanted in your ear. Connected to my 6310i, it works as it
should. Paul - any ideas?

I love mine :-)
I received it on Friday last week (very impressed with livetelecom.com for
that) and have been using it since :-)
Battery life is awesome, as long as I don't have bluetooth on all the time!
I charged it fully on Saturday night, and Im still waiting for it to drop
one bar! I've already had a 7650 for a good while before, so unlike Peter
there was no "getting used to it" period, I just got stuck
straight in!
With GPRS, mobile internet is now just down to costs and whose portal is
best, all providers charge per meg transferred... It just depends who is
the
cheapest! I'm on Orange and pay something like 3 quid I think for 2meg
transfer per month, that does me quite adequately for WAP browsing. For
anything heavier you are going to need more!
Orange used to be able to claim that they were the fastest for data in the
UK, because they were the only network who support HSCSD (High Speed
Circuit
Switched Data) which would theoretically allow your mobile phone to connect
at speeds of upto 56k, although orange charged a healthy premium for this
privilege!
I suppose the next leap will be if 3 launch some sort of data
service(unless
they have already), but lets not go there! (eh Gerard! - both he and I know
the wonders of 3)
To answer the question "6600 or T610" I would say 6600 all the
time, cos I
hate Ericsson phones (I had the first T68 and that put me off for life!),
you really cannot beat the Nokia UI IMHO. To anyone asking the question
though, I would have to say that's its your phone, you are the only person
who can answer that one. Take both, play with them, see how they feel, how
you like it and make your decision based on that.
