KVMs

I'm thinking about getting a KVM to access the two PCs in the
cupboard under our stairs from the study which is just next door (I'm
fed up crawling through the kids winter coats to get at them!).
Probably a cable run of around 12-15ft max.

I recall the last time I used a video manual switch box to share a
monitor between two PCs I was never very happy with the quality of
the display with this set up. It always appeared fuzzy to my eyes.

In using a KVM over the above distance what can I expect in terms of
video quality? Same as direct connect? Is it the quality of KVM
switch or quality of cable that gives the best result? Anyone care
to share their experiences with kit used?

TIA

Malcolm
