Phil,

No doubt you've already thought of this, but just in case, how about
putting an IDE-SATA converter on each drive and connecting them via SATA
cables & adapters... - not especially cheap, I know, - I reckon the
adapters are about a fiver each? 1 metre SATA cables probably about the
same? Then of course you have to buy a SATA controller, but the
RocketRAID ones are reasonable I think, and I believe they go up to an
8-port version...

As I said, not particularly cheap, but probably no dearer than buying
IDE-USB housings, and certainly worth not having 6 x 160GB of storage
sitting around being wasted!! (I'm sure Graham would offer you a few
sherbets for them!)

Only ten 160Gb drives though Mark... ;-)

...still another six to work out how to house!!!

Big cases that have loads of drive bays within IDE distances of the
expansion cards are bloody hard to find!!! (Oh yeah and why the hell do
they
make 90cm IDE cables with the two "drive" connectors 30cm apart -
bloody
useless - stick the two drive connectors 10cm apart and give us another
20cm
useable cable length.)

BAH HUMBUG!!!

Phil
