XBoX mods/media player

In light of the good news that Tivo streaming is looking like a 'goer' for
an modded XBoX I've just had a response from my email to Santa ;-)

Santa has asked what bits are needed to get the XBoX playing .ty streams
and
other media, and what is the likely cost?

I've had a look over at XBoX Scene and frankly I'm bewildered buy all of
the
options !
Is http://www.xboxmediaplayer.de/info_project.htm
all I'm going to need
installed?

..and is there a good all round idiots guide?

I'm not bothered by Surface mount soldering if needed,  it's just knowing
which dashboards/bioses and where to get them
